inter-twined

A photo series by Shahfaq Shahbaz

Shahfaq Shahbaz is a fashion stylist, creative director, and photographer based in Milton Keynes and London, United Kingdom. Her British Pakistani heritage has been at the heart of her desire to showcase culture and diversity within her work.

“This photo series is inspired by my own Pakistani heritage and how I balance by culture with my British upbringing. The images were taken in Lahore, Pakistan and London, England. The purpose of this shoot was for my final university project in 2019, the shoot is called “Intertwined” to showcase how I mix both my Pakistani heritage and my UK upbringing together. When I was a young girl I never wanted to embrace my culture and identity because of my surroundings but the older I got the more I started to love my culture as it gave me comfort & a sense of home. Since my final project I have wanted to stick to showing culture and identity within my work but not only my own culture but every BAME person so we can share our similarities with each other & feel confident and proud of our identity.”
